Labor Day Annual Pig Roast

The Annual Pig Roast is always great fun for the backstretch workers.
The 2007 event was no exception.

The Annual Pig Roast at Philadelphia Park Racetrack is one of those five events involving the Chaplain and his staff.  The party was made possible by the PA Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association and management of the racetrack.  As part of the day, the Chaplain's office for several years has conducted a benefit raffle to assist the Chaplain's emergency fund for the backstretch employees.  Each year track veterinarians, owners, trainers, and numerous local businesses donate items as prizes.

"Thanks to those generous donors, the benefits from the effort will enable backstretch workers to receive assistance for such matters as transportation costs for various appointments and many emergency needs that they encounter throughout the year."

Rev. Gary Gilpin, Pastor at Aldenville Baptist Church and Clinton Center Church, delivered 12 back packs and school supplies for the children at the track

Three of the children who won back packs
 posed for a picture.
